How Can You Avoid Dis-Unified Communications?

October 27, 2016 / Foram Joshi

In our previous blog, The Risk of Dis-Unified Communication, we discussed how the aggressive expansion of UC (i.e. a single solution that integrates services such as instant messaging, voice, video conferencing, mobile and more) is increasing the risk of dis-unified communication. In today’s blog, we will help you understand how this risk could be mitigated.

To avoid dis-unified communications firms should look to a provider that is able to develop an effective UC strategy that specifically fits how your business works today. A good UC company will help you develop that strategy, starting with identifying the main method of communication used by the organization, then building the unified communications and collaboration solution around that cornerstone.

Many UC vendors will try to push an all-in-one solution toward you, whether it is a good fit for your environment or not, simply because that happens to be the one solution that the vendor sells. But it is likely that there are multiple UC features and applications that your employees are already using on their desktops today. If you are using Gmail and Google Apps already, you wouldn’t want to select a Microsoft UC solution, and vice versa. Working with a UC company that can help you unify those features you are already using for a cohesive UC solution is what is most important.

Unified Communications is changing how organizations do business and is enabling greater mobility, work-from-home capabilities and even Bring Your Own Device programs. Leveraging a fully integrated cloud-based UC strategy will eliminate the threats of dis-unified communications and drive the productivity benefits businesses need while allowing IT to maintain control and security as well.

Download Evolve IP’s unified communications survey to unveil some fascinating statistics about the current trends and the strongest drivers behind the adoption of advanced business communications and collaboration tools.

We have been Evolve DaaS clients for just about 2 years. What execs really need to know is how much productivity DaaS brings to an organization. We have estimated that each employee saves 10 minutes a day in startup and shutdown time. Probably another 5 minutes a day in work from home productivity - i.e. more likely to log in from their home PC than if they had to carry a laptop home every night and no clunky VPN or Citrix session to dissuade them from getting on.

So, 15 minutes a day, that is 3% of their day back. 3% of an $80,000 a year employee is $2,500.

DaaS has a 300% return, with no capital at risk. That is what I would tell your execs. Feel free to ask questions.

    Best!
