Takeaway 1 – The Value of a Technology Consultant

Technology plays such an important role in business.

Jeff explains how businesses historically considered IT and technology as cost centers, but today are investing heavily because they realize that it’s core to the success of the business.

Because of this repositioning, IT teams and technology leaders are no longer dealing with just, “twisting the knobs and pressing the buttons,” as Jeff explains. They are heads down, helping the business go forward.

The result is they don’t have the time to spend staying on top of new developments in the market. And with technology shifting faster than ever – so fast that even those in tech are saying, ‘hey, slow down!’ –  a good technology consultant can be a huge benefit.

It’s their job to look at the industry day in, day out and see what’s going on, so IT teams can focus on their own day-to-day responsibilities

Takeaway 2 - IT Spending is Changing in the Face of a Possible Recession

Jeff explains that in the current climate, we’re seeing a trend toward more cautionary spending.

Once COVID hit, the ‘golden age’ of spending on technology was over. While businesses understand more than ever that they need to continue investing in technology, they are leaning towards more conscious spending – being more concerned about what they invest in and looking at ways they can elevate it better.

Takeaway 3 – Driving the Initial ‘Cloud’ Conversation

There are a ton of organizations that haven’t yet made the jump to cloud, so how does Opkalla start the conversation?

By treading lightly, Jeff explains. As some people are averse to the word cloud, and the truth is, it doesn’t work for every organization, you have to remain open to that. But he likes to start the conversation with three questions…

For your organization what’s your…

  1. Business Case?
  2. Use Case?
  3. Strategy for Your Applications?

Jeff explains that asking about these three things provides an idea as to whether the cloud is right for a customer or not.
